The Shroud of Turin has been the premier relic of Christendom for nearly eight centuries now. The purported burial cloth of Jesus, this has been in Turin Cathedral since the High Middle Ages. Despite the fact that at the time of its "discovery" it was declared a forgery upon investigation by several prelates, the local cathedral chapter continued to pack in the pilgrims. Recent scientific tests have only confirmed what the Medival churchmen knew, but the pilgrims keep coming anyway.
