Any dispute you have with another player can be settled by a player holding a superior position. Every Lesser Noble is the Vassal of a Great Noble (also called a Magnate) and every Great Noble is the Vassal to a King. Only the Great Noble or King you are subordinate to may settle a dispute you have. If the person you are in conflict with is subordinate to another noble or King, you cannot easily get the dispute settled by appealing to a Liege Lord, because your lord must speak to his opposite number who controls the noble you are in conflict with.
