BCCI Tournament of the Sword
The BCCI periodically sponsors a series of tournaments that determine the most formidable swordsman in the realms. It is held in the IC. Players may use their court persona as their champion if they so desire.
National Eliminations are held, followed by the finals. Two finalists from each kingdom will be in the finals. The finals are held a week after the National Eliminations. Players who are not subjects of England or France may join either national elimination competition.
The Finals are held on a mutually agreeable date after the Nationals. The Finals match the first place national finishers against the second place finishers of the other kingdom. The winners of these matches will proceed to battle each other for the Championship.
The BCCI will award five million ducats to the winner, two million to the runner up and one million to the other two finalists. These amounts will be doubled for any finalist that uses his own PC rather than an NPC court persona.
The National Herald for each country will supervise their Nationals in the IC. The two National eliminations should be held at separate times. There may be more than one session for eliminations to accommodate all players who wish to participate. The Nationals are by single elimination. The Heralds pair the participants and witness their duels. Obviously, there will have to be a wild card routine if there are an odd number of participants. That is, if 13 players enter, there will be six pairs in the first round, by the luck of the draw, one of those six will sit out the second round so the 13th player may participate in the second round of three duels. The player who sat out the second round will be in the third round of two duels (which would select the two finalists). In any event, the National Heralds have the final word in the running of these nationals.
Both Heralds or the Game Sysop will supervise the finals. The Herald with the senior rank of nobility will be deemed to be the senior Herald if the Game Sysop is not in attendance.
Betting is allowed, and Heralds are responsible for maintaining some semblance of order in the IC during the competitions.
