Comments: Puigcerda is a small county on the southern slope of the Pryennes. Long a part of Cerdagne, in the 12th century it emerged as a separate entity, when Alfonso I of Aragon and Catalonia authorized the fortification of the town of Pugicerda ["Puig-in-Cerdagne"] for the first time. It is part of the archiepiscopal province of Tarragona. It is a poor place.
