VI. The French Revival

1429-44: The French revive after the death of Henry V, due partially to an untypical unity among French magnates, the inspiration of Joan of Arc, and the increasing professionalization of the their army, with the result that most of France comes under French control again.

1444-53: The French king develops a professional army and more centralized government. The English are expelled from France and France becomes the most powerful nation in Europe.

1453 onwards: Both countries experience considerable post-war disorders.
