Comments: Nevers is a large county in eastern France, between Auxerre and Burgundy. The county was brought directly under the crown in the late 10th century, when it was severed from dependence upon Ducal Burgundy, of which it was formerly a part. It is subject to the Archbishop of Sens, but there is a Bishop in Nevers proper. There is little commerce or industry beyond agriculture, which is productive.
